Although set in a rural setting, there’s plenty going on for you to enjoy. Just a few miles down the road, you have the pretty village of Longridge and just 20 minutes in the car, you have the lovely town of Clitheroe, with plenty to do with local markets held 3 times a week.

Clitheroe

Clitheroe is a traditional market town in the Ribble Valley. The pretty high street is lined with a selection of independent shops including an award-winning wine shop, a sausage shop famed for selling 75 varieties of sausage and a speciality coffee company, home to a large selection of coffee and teas. There is also a popular outdoor market held 3 times a week and Bowland Food Hall, which provides a showcase for the best of Lancashire’s food and drink producers to sell their wares.

The high street leads up the hill to the 12th century Norman Castle, which is said to be the smallest Norman castle in England. With 16 acres of landscaped gardens, the castle and grounds are open daily and offer panoramic views of the Ribble Valley’s historic landscape.

Longridge

The market town of Longridge sits at the western end of Longridge Fell, above the River Ribble.

The town offers a mixture of shops and antique galleries and has an indoor market every Thursday. Set in pretty countryside it is a popular starting point for country walks and cycle rides.
